 About the Founder and President, Kristina Blackledge, M.S.

 

Ms. Blackledge received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University in 1999.  The MFT program at SPU is accredited by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, which works toward maintaining the highest quality and ethical programs in the country. 

 

Ms. Blackledge practices family systems therapy in a style that is best for the client.  She received extensive training in and enjoys utilizing Narrative theory which allows clients control over the pace and direction of therapy.  Ms. Blackledge also has specialized training and experience in child development, early learning, parenting, postpartum issues and disorders, and disabilities/special education issues. 

Ms. Blackledge began her career as a Nanny and Preschool Teacher, and owned a private preschool.  She has managed Disabilities Services for Early Head Start (focusing on children ages birth-three) in California, then headed the Education department for Head Start (for children ages 3-5) for the City of Phoenix.  Ms. Blackledge has eight years of experience providing therapy for all issues to people of all ages. 

Ms. Blackledge participates on the Arizona School Readiness Board and its Infant Mental Health sub-committee, the Infant/Toddler Mental Health Coalition of AZ, the Postpartum Support International AZ Chapter, and is involved with the Raising Special Kids and MIKID (Mentally Ill Kids in Distress) organizations.  Ms. Blackledge is a strong advocate for families and children living with special needs.  

Ms. Blackledge has endured her own, personal struggles with Postpartum Depression after each of her pregnancies.  She lives in Anthem, AZ with her husband and three sons and is expecting twins this summer.
